Kyros

Kyros

The eldest of the brothers, Kyros, nicknamed Key, is the leader, the final say on every decision made by the Mephisto. He likes growing things and working with the earth. If he’s not on a takedown, he’s usually in his greenhouse. Key is serious, reserved, and even-tempered. Except when he’s not.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Happiness isn’t perfect. It can’t be.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

I knew most historical figures before they bought it, and I don’t identify with any of them.

Which living person do you most admire?

The Fruitcake Lady. What?  She died?  Okay, then, I guess I most admire Oprah. Or that guy on the mattress commercials. Hell, I dunno. I’m not into admiring people.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

I’m a pessimistic fatalist. So shoot me – when you’ve seen as much of the dark side as I have, it’s only natural to assume the worst.

What is your favorite journey?

To my greenhouse. It’s quiet out there, and smells like life.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

Chastity. Or maybe sobriety. No, it’s probably frugality. Spend it now – you can’t take it with you. Really. I know.

On what occasion do you lie?

Pretty much any occasion.

What do you dislike most about your appearance?

Why would I dislike my appearance?  It’s not as if I have to look at myself.

Which living person do you most despise?

My father’s oldest son, Eryx.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

Next question.

When and where were you happiest?

The night Phoenix found Jane, at a ball in London in 1887. She wasn’t for me, but if any of us finds an Anabo, it’s cause for celebration.

Which talent would you most like to have?

I would like to laugh at things my brothers find funny, but I just don’t get the humor.

If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?

My father’s oldest son would drop dead.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Getting over the death of Eryx. Yes, I know he’s not dead because he’s immortal, but he’s dead to me. He was my older brother and we were close. Now he’s my greatest enemy. That’s messed up and it took a long time to get over it.

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?

After being here a thousand years, if I had to come back…well, I just wouldn’t. Been here, done it, bought the t-shirt.

If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be?

Look, I already told you – I’m not coming back.

What is your most treasured possession?

A sketch my mother made of my baby brother, Denys, just before she died.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Besides being a giant?  Probably a green thumb. Plants do amazing things for me when I ask them to.

Who are your favorite writers?

Doesteyvsky and Dickens. Dudes had a way of telling it like it is.

Who is your favorite hero of fiction?

Rochester in Jane Eyre. Okay, so it’s a chick book. He saw what he wanted and went for it – screw that he already had a wife. She was crazy. Jane made him a better man. Well, later, I guess, after the wackjob wife burned the house down and offed herself.

What is it that you most dislike?

Is this different than what I despise most?  I guess I’m not crazy about hypocrites. Oh, and I loathe apples.

What is your motto?

As of now, it’s Don’t answer questionnaires.

The eyes never lie. No one’s eyes are darker than Eryx’s. Not even the Devil’s. When Jax and Sasha first see Jordan Ellis, they know she is no ordinary teenager. She’s the daughter of the president, after all, but she’s also Anabo — a descendant of Eve.

What they don’t know is that Eryx plans to kidnap Jordan and force President Ellis to pledge his soul. If Eryx’s plot succeeds, the consequences would be catastrophic.

But the Mephisto brothers do know about Jordan’s secret identity. And for one of them, she could be the match that leads to his soul’s salvation.

Now it’s a desperate race against time to save Jordan and prevent Eryx’s haunting eyes from discovering her true identity.

A thrilling story of romance, danger, and intrigue, The Mephisto Kiss continues the marvelous mythology that began in The Mephisto Covenant.

“This series is my very own YA version of J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood, only without Vampires. You have your group of boys who fight evil, and your group of woman who swoop in and save their lives. While reading, I got the same feelings I did while reading BDB series. I loved every single character in this book. No really, EVERY single one, even the villain. He’s done some EVIL things, but in The Mephisto Kiss you get to see a different side to Eryx and learn a bit more about his history. He’s still sick and twisted, but this made him the perfect bad boy to me. And this also makes me want to say Damn you, Trinity, for making me fall in love with a bad guy!”– Damaris, Good Choice Reading

“I love, love, love, this book! The series has turned out to be amazing, and I am in awe of Faegen’s sheer writing abilities! She is so creative and her novels quickly enrapture the reader; I read this in one sitting because it is that good! If you haven’t started the series, trust me, you need to read this!”A Book Vacation

“A timeless love story with unique mythology that captivates the imagination. I loved it.”—P.C. Cast, #1 New York Times best-selling author of the House of Night series

“Trinity Faegen bursts onto the young adult scene with an exciting debut novel told in a fresh voice, and with a unique spin on a timeless tale.”—#1 New York Times best-selling author Sherrilyn Kenyon

“This is a fantastic book with everything a paranormal fan craves, from action to suspense to an absolutely sizzling romance. Fans of P.C. Cast and Lauren Kate will not regret buying this book. Faegen is an author to look out for!”— 4 Stars RT Book Reviews

The dialogue flows smoothly and includes many contemporary idioms. The plot is adventurous, fast paced, and gripping. Descriptions of bullying, peer pressure, and loneliness are brutal but accurate. Mephisto Mountain, where Jax and his brothers live in luxurious splendor, would tempt anyone to move in, and Sasha eventually does. Faegen has created a dangerous universe fraught with evil, but free will wins out. A surprise ending caps the story.- VOYA

“The Mephisto Covenant is a unique compilation of YA romance norms with subtle, yet impactful, differences. Trinity Faegan creates a world where characters are realistically pure in their actions and motives. No character, villain or hero, is simply good or evil and free will is not only a right but a responsibility. This harmonious dance of right and wrong is presented an unassuming book and is a must read for any fan or skeptic of the genre.”Literary Escapism
